Duane Claud Doty was born to Claud Clarence and Mary Bell (Stelzer) Doty on September 5, 1927 in rural Grandfield, Oklahoma, and departed this life on December 26, 2009 at Lawton, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 21 days. Duane grew up in the Devol Community where he attended grade school and high school, participating in all sports, especially basketball and baseball. He was also in the 4-H Club among other academic activities. He served as referee and umpire for area ballgames and participated in local rodeos, riding clubs and the Cattleman's Association. He married Ava Fawbush on August 28, 1948, in Wichita Falls, TX. They have been married for 61 years spending most of those on farms in Cotton County, but no residing in Cache, OK. Duane was a farmer and rancher, and on February 8, 1996, at Deyo Mission Baptist Church was ordained to the work of the Gospel Ministry, serving as Pastor of Emerson Baptist Church since that time. He served 9 years on the Cotton County ASCS Board, 9 years on the Walters Cooperative Elevator Association, and was instrumental in establishing the CCRWD#2. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a longtime member of the Cache Valley Lodge #530. He was also a past Rainbow Dad. Duane was preceded in death by his son, Micheal Duane Doty, his parents, and a sister Eva Lou Moon. Survivors include his wife Ava of the home; 3 sisters, Wanda Roberson of Dallas, TX, Veta Miller of Walters and Patricia McKinnis of Burkburnett, TX; a special cousin, Harvey Doty of Devol, OK; many nephews, nieces, friends and in-laws.
