Neal William Burk was born to James Marion and Alta Jane (Bradford) Burk on August 1, 1922, at Russellville, AL and departed this life in Geronimo, OK on December 2, 2009, at the age of 87 years, 4 months and 1 day. Neal came to Oklahoma with his family at the age of two. He began doing farm work at age eight and eventually worked in the Blue Beaver Sand Pit. He was drafted by the Army during WWII, but was medically discharged the following year. He soon married Lois Pauline Ryans on October 26, 1943 at Frederick, OK. Neal had already begun working at Yarmuk's Scrap Yard where he continued working 45½ years as a crane operator, retiring at age 68. Neal was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed bowling, playing dominos and horseshoes, and going to auctions. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois, 5 brothers and 3 sisters, and a grandson Joseph Burk, and 3 great grandchildren. Survivors include 5 sons, Roger Burk and wife Helen, James Burk and fiancé Ruth Pittser, Russell Burk all of Geronimo, Larry Burk and wife Barbara, Donnie Burk and wife Donna all of Lawton; a daughter, Tandi McCarthy and husband Victor of Geronimo; 3 brothers and their wives, Jake and Violet Burk of Cache, OK, Gene and Geraldine Burk of Faxon, OK, Tommy and Betty Burk of Duncan, OK; 3 sisters Joyce Grayson of Yukon, OK, Barthene Ryans of Galt, CA, Oleta Pearl Dean and husband Paul of Lawton; 23 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; A special caregiver, Joyce Rylant; many other relatives and friends.
