Betty Jean Long

September 24, 1924 — November 29, 2009

She was born September 24, 1924, in Jackson County, IN to Oliver and Mary Murphy Carpenter, the youngest of eleven children. She attended school in Henryville and married Campbell G. Long on May 18, 1944 in Henryville. Rev. Campbell and Betty Long lived in Logansport, IN and moved to southwest Oklahoma in 1952 to serve Presbyterian churches in Grandfield, Temple and Waurika, OK. She sang for the church and participated in Sunday School, Bible Study and Presbyterian Women's groups. She also worked for the Cotton County Election Board. Survivors include two sons, three daughters and spouses: Campbell G. II and Rev. Sue Long, Lawton; Barbara and Duke Monroe, Sherwood, AR; Beverly and James Bennett, Casper, WY; Brenda and David Pinner, San Antonio, TX; John and Alisa Long, Littleton, CO.; ten grandchildren and spouses: James Anthony and Wendy Bennett, Casper, WY; Rachael and Dusty Marco, Lawton; Marc Monroe, Sherwood, AR; Terry and Evelyn Pinner, Cibolo, TX; Lynn and Melissa Monroe, Bella Vista, AR; Garth and Shanel Long, Elk Ridge, UT; Lauren and Chris Lynch; El Dorado, AR; Kristen Long, Falls Church, VA; Cindy and Michael Gowin, Tulsa, OK; Eric and Amber Long, Lakewood, CO; and twelve great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, six brothers and her husband. Friends may call Thursday, 2 - 4pm at the Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Temple, OK.
