Karan Rae Lewis

Karan Rae Lewis was born to Raymond Preston and Dottie Christine (Dyer) Johnson in Hastings, OK on September 6, 1938 and departed this life in Rural Hastings, OK on November 27, 2009 at the age of 71 years, 2 months and 21 days. Karan grew up in the Hastings area and was an All-State guard her senior year at Temple High School. She met Tab Lewis at a square dancing class and they eventually married on September 24, 1955 in Temple, OK. She was employed by Walters Bank and Trust, and the Hagger Slacks Factory before attending school at Cameron College. Upon receiving her degree she taught school at Waurika, Empire and Walters before becoming an ASCOG counselor. She helped launch the Elder Care Program in Cotton and Comanche Counties, and was a computer program consultant for the State Health Department. Karan was currently serving on the Cotton County Ambulance Board. She was preceded in death by her father; a grandson, Dylan Lewis and a grandaughter, Shayna Potts. Survivors include her husband of the home; her mother Dottie Johnson of Comanche, OK; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kyle and Christy Lewis of Hastings, Breck and Lesa Lewis of Duncan, OK; a sister, Myrna Meyers of Comanche, OK; a granddaughter, Lindsey and husband Shane Calhoun of Iowa Park, TX; and many other family members and friends.
