Anna Mae "Ann" Otis was born September 22, 1913 to Audry and Louie Meyer near Faxon, Oklahoma and went to be with her Lord on November 19, 2009 in Throckmorton, Texas. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1932. She attended Cameron College and later graduated from Central State College at Edmond, Oklahoma. She married Andy Otis on June 25, 1938 in Walters. He preceded her in death on May 3, 1983. Ann taught school forty years in Cotton County. She taught at Fairview, Soldier Valley, Cache Valley, Valley View, and Lone Star county schools. From 1955-1975, she taught in the Walters Elementary School. In 1962, she was presented with a citation as Teacher of the Year for her service to education on Oklahoma. Ann led a very active life. She participated in many activities in the Baptist Church such as WMU, where she attended mission study, Bible study, and Missionary Round Table. She was director of her church extension department for many years and taught Sunday school until she was 89 years old. In October, 2000, she received a special pin for 42 years of perfect attendance in Sunday school. Other activities she enjoyed were delivering Meals on Wheels, being treasurer of the Retired Teachers, visiting the Nursing Home and playing bingo with them, crocheting, playing card games, reading, and baking cookies to share with neighbor children and others she visited. She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Hibbitts and husband, Charles of Throckmorton, Texas, two grandsons, Kevin Hibbitts and wife, Paula, of Lingleville, Texas and Kasey Hibbitts of Throckmorton, one granddaughter, Karlyn Cook and husband, Neal of Throckmorton, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great granddaughters.
