Ronnie Lynn Powers was born to Kenneth Andrew Sr. and Velva Jo (Kindsfather) Powers on July 26, 1944, at Grandfield, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK, on November 17, 2009, at the age of 65 years, 3 months and 22 days. Ronnie grew up in the Ahpeatone and Walters communities, graduating from Walters High School in 1962. He married Patty Ruth Chemah on September 8, 1964, at Wichita Falls, TX. They made their home at Walters and for over 10 years Ronnie worked for Wonder Bread and Dolly Madison in Lawton, OK. Around 1980, he and Patty bought and began operating the Ice Dock Convenience Store and he also worked in the oilfield until 1985 when he received his refrigeration license and started Powers Heat and Air. Ronnie has also been in the rental properties business for several years. He was truly an entrepreneur. He enjoyed meeting at the store for morning coffee and fishing with his best friends. Each year he planned a family vacation and he enjoyed going camping in various parks and traveling, especially to Alaska and Hawaii. Ronnie loved his family and dog Carlie. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters. Preceding him in death were his parents. Survivors include his wife Patty of the home; 2 sons, Bryan Keith Powers and wife Cheryl, Monty Malone Powers and wife Wendy all of Walters; a daughter, Karen Kelley and husband Mark of Lubbock, TX; a brother, Kenneth A. Powers and wife Betty of Whitewright, TX; a sister, Venita Joy Dudley of Plano, TX; 4 grandchildren, Kody Lynn Powers, Joshua Shelton Kelley, Alexandra Jo Powers and Chris Williams; 3 special friends, Bruce Williams, Glenn Smith and Larry Norman; other relatives and many friends.
