Mary Elizabeth (McCarter) McCraw was born to J.D. and Emma Irene (Smith) McCarter on September 4, 1939, near Hastings, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK, on November 12, 2009at the age of 70 years, 2 months and 8 days. She married Carl McCraw, Jr. on July 4, 1957, at Walters, Oklahoma. Mary was a military wife for 20 years until Carl's retirement in 1973. At that time they moved to Walters, OK, where Mary continued being a homemaker, raising her children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Carl on December 2, 1993; a brother Franklin McCarter; a son Danny McCraw; and a great grandson Zachary Bayless. Survivors include 2 daughters, Debra Pittman and special friend Jesse Fannon of Walters, OK, Donetta Harris and husband Billy of Temple, OK; a son, Darrell McCraw of Kingston, OK; a daughter-in-law, Julie McCraw of Temple; 9 grandchildren, Mary Pittman, Michael Pittman and Ricky Bob Harris all of Walters, Alan McCraw, Emma Venable, Heather Bayless, Steven Griffith all of Temple, Billy Bob McCraw of Burkburnett, TX and Cheri Leonard of Dallas, TX; 4 step grandchildren, Jonathan Griffith and Rebecca Jones of Burkburnett, Amber Ford of Walters and Willie Wofford of Oklahoma; 15great grandchildren; 16 step great grandchildren; 2 step great-great grandchildren; 2 special adopted daughters, Leda Copeland of Temple and Angela James of Corn, OK; an adopted son, Richard Allen of Oklahoma City; a brother, Vernon McCarter and wife Wilma of El Reno, OK; a sister, Audrey Godbois and husband Floyd of Loveland, CO; 4 nieces and nephews; many great and great-great nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
