Betty Fern (Martin) Solomon was born to Durward Walter "Dude" and Maybell (Bates) Martin on August 13, 1937, west of Walters, OK and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on October 22, 2009, at the age of 72 years, 2 months and 9 days. Betty grew up in the rural Walters, OK, area. She carhopped and worked at the Walters Hospital while in high school. She was eventually employed as a CMA at Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Walters and later at Temple Manor for several years. Through the years she was also employed at Necchi-Elna and Montgomery Wards in Lawton. She married Bobby Joe Solomon on April 7, 1986, at Wichita Falls, TX and they made their home at Randlett. Betty enjoyed fishing, bossing, joking, bingo and garage selling. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Lloyd Parkey and a granddaughter, Sarah. Survivors include her husband, Bob of the home; 2 sons, Billy Parkey and wife Lucretia, Floyd Parkey and wife Kim all of Temple, OK; a daughter, Pam Miller and husband Stuart of Burkburnett, TX; a stepson, Ronnie Joe Solomon of Midwest City, OK; a brother, Durward Don Martin and wife Christine of Saddler, TX; a sister Deattra Faye Goodner of Iowa Park, TX; 12 grandchildren and spouses, Kendall & Sara, Kendi & Baylee, Leslie & Rusty, B.J. & Audrey, Kristle & Derrick, Keaton & DairAnn, Jacob, John & Mary, Jeremy & Nikki, Chance, Brendlin, and Amber; 13 great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
