Barbara Sue (Phillips) Milam Teakell was born to Rector Bryant and Edith (Valley) Phillips on November 28, 1936, at Chickasha, OK and departed this life at Lawton, OK, on October 1, 2009, at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 3 days. Barbara grew up on Line Creek in Chickasha where she graduated from high school in the class of 1955. She married Claude Thomas Milam on August 29, 1955 and they made their home in Chickasha for a short time before moving to Duncan, OK. There they owned and operated Milam Produce until 1974 when Barbara went to work for the Haggar factory. In the fall of 1977 she went to work for Jim's Electric Service, winding motors, a job she has done for the past 32 years, the company now known as Quality Electric. Barbara has also been engaged in farming and ranching all of her life. She married J.W. Teakell on February 2, 1991, at Duncan and they made their home on a farm east of Walters. She was a member of Corum Baptist Church. Through the years she was a devout daddy's girl. She loved her children and grandchildren and getting together with the whole family. She enjoyed photography and was an active member of the Walters Roundup Club and before that was a member of the Duncan club. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.W. in July 2009; a son, Teddy Dean Milam; 2 brothers, Calvin and Kenneth Phillips; a sister, Dorothy Walker; a grandson, Ronnie Wayne Jackson; a great grandson, Jaden Mackenzie Jackson; and a stepson, Teddy Teakell. Survivors include a daughter Gail Jackson of Duncan; two sons, Tom Milam of Comanche, OK and Gary Milam of Chickasha, OK; a sister Dollie Conder of Alex, OK; 4 stepsons, Ronnie, Mike, Terry and Tony Teakell all of Walters; 16 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson other relatives and many friends.
