Carl Andrew Peck was born to Andrew Sherman and Mary Bell (Clark) Peck on January 26, 1912, at Comanche, OK and departed this life in Altus, OK on July 25, 2009, at the age of 97 years, 5 months and 29 days. Carl grew up at Walters, OK, where he worked at the creamery as a young man and played baseball on the weekends for Dr. Pepper. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon returning home from the war he married Verna Mae Renegar on November 12, 1947 at Waurika, OK and they made their home in Walters where he went to work for Stimpson Chevrolet as a salesman. They later moved to Lawton, OK, where he worked for Madden Motor Co. until opening Carl Peck Motor Co. in 1963. He eventually joined his brothers at Peck Motor Co. in 1975 and retired from the car business in 1986. Through the years Carl has faithfully attended the reunions of Company C 99th Signal Battalion and was the oldest of 10 surviving members. He enjoyed singing and playing the guitar. He was preceded in death by his wife, Verna Mae in 2001; 2 brothers, A.J. and Roy Peck; and 2 sisters, Florene Southward and Inez Mann. Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Carla "Casey" and Will Rogers of Altus; a brother, Pruitt Peck and wife Helen of Duncan, OK; 2 granddaughters, Kim Kelsay of Dallas, TX and Dedra Kelsay of Lawton; a grandson, Bill Rogers and wife Kristen of North Carolina; 2 great grandkids, Brennen and Braeden Rogers; 9 Company C Buddies; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
