Cheryl Lynn Taptto was born to Hollis Layden and Geneva Fawbush Taptto on October 19. 1958 in Inglewood, California and departed this life in Lawton, Oklahoma on July 12, 2009 at the age of 50 years, 3 months and 7 days. Cheryl graduated from Walters High School in 1976. She had been the 3rd Runner-up in the 1975 Miss Indian Oklahoma pageant and was the Homecoming Queen at Cameron University in 1976. At Cameron she received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration in 1982. She worked as an Assistant administrator at the Ft. Sill Dental Clinic and in a hospital in Germany. She played a role in various military organizations throughout the years. Cheryl was an accomplished seamstress, having owned a custom sewing business called Cheryl's Creative Sewing. She also enjoyed dancing at Pow-wow's, running marathons, gardening and assisting the homeless. She was preceded in death by her father; her paternal grandparents, William and Florence Aitson Taptto; her maternal grandparents, Rie and Sallie Fawbush; a niece, Amanda Taptto; and an aunt, Portia Jones. Survivors include her mother of the home; a son, Michael Nizolak of Rolla, MO; three brothers, Richard Taptto and wife Tammy of Anadarko, OK, Neal Taptto and wife Jacqui of Norman, OK and Scotty Taptto of Walters; three nieces, Tiffany, Alora and Mikayla Taptto; six aunts, Mary Fawbush, Wanda Maxey, Della Blackstar, Sharon Taptto, Linda Hankins and Ava Doty; two uncles, Woody Taptto and David Taptto; and many other relatives and friends.
