James W Teakell, Jr. was born to James "Jim" and Nina (Harlin) Teakell on July 16, 1925, northwest of Walters, OK and departed this east of Walters on July 5, 2009, at the age of 84 years, 11 months and 19 days. J W grew up at Walters where he made his home all his life. He worked in the oilfield for many years and was employed by L.E. Jones for 9 years. He was a partner in P&T Oil Company which later became the Teakell Oil Company. J W was also engaged in farming and ranching for many years. He married Barbara Milam on February 2, 1991, at Duncan, OK and they made their home east of Walters. He was a very active member of the Walters Roundup Club since its beginning and had served as the club president for the past 16 years. Through the years he enjoyed his Roundup Club activities and trips, and also enjoyed coyote hunting . JW was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Teddy Teakell; a stepson, Teddy Milam; 4 brothers, Reuben, Kenneth and Max Phillips, and John R. Teakell; 2 sisters, Jewell Rupe and Grace Pentencost. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; 5 sons, Ronnie Teakell and wife Amy, Mike Teakell and wife Connie, Terry Teakell, Tony Teakell and wife Valerie all of Walters, OK, Tom Milam, of Comanche, OK; a daughter, Gail Jackson and husband Jim of Duncan, OK; a brother, Ewing Phillips of Walters; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
