Luther Preston Hunt was born to Henry and Zelma (Mauney) Hunt in Harlingen, Texas on May 31, 1928 and departed this life in Lawton, Oklahoma on June 10, 2009 at the age of 81 years and 10 days. Luther grew up in South Texas and graduated from La Feria High School in 1947. He joined the Army and served in the Korean War, after the service he worked at Sheppard Air Force Base where he met Bettye Louise Pickett and they were married on September 7, 1962 in Duncan and they made their home in Walters, She passed away on August 7, 2007. He owned a masonry company and a home inspector for 18 yrs. He was a member of the St. Patrick Catholic Church, Walters, the Walters Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus and the ORCIA. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother Emmett Hunt. Survivors include a son Charles "Chuck" Hunt of Lake Elsinore, CA, a daughter Debra Horridge of Walters, two sisters; Jean White of Harlingen, TX and Tinkey Wilson of Weslaco, TX, 6 grandchildren; Robert and Stefani Blackman of Dallas, Michelle Horridge of Garland, TX, Garret and Austin Hunt of Portland, OR, Jade Hunt of CA and Dillan Avery Hunt of Lake Elsinore, CA, two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Katherine "Katie" Blackman of Dallas, many nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
