Ima Jewel "Judy" Baber was born to Luther Lonzo and Edna (Underwood) Davis on January 17, 1925 southwest of Randlett, OK and departed this life on April 16, 2009, at House of Hope, Wichita Falls, TX. Judy grew up in the Valley View Community southwest of Randlett. She graduated from Randlett High School as the valedictorian of the class of 1942. She worked at Sheppard Field during WWII and eventually married John Shepard "Shep" Baber on September 2, 1945, at Burkburnett, TX. They made their home in Randlett until moving west of town in 1973. For the past five years Judy has made her home in Burkburnett. Through the years she worked as a bookkeeper for Burkburnett Bank and as a homemaker. Judy was a member of Randlett Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially the grandkids and had an everlasting love of Shep. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, pulling weeds, playing Chinese checkers and other games. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 12, 2001; 2 brothers, Clyde and Guy Davis; and a sister, Una Farley. Survivors include: 2 daughters, Karen Dabney and husband Leon, of Devol, OK, and Gay Josefy of Burkburnett, TX; 5 grandchildren, Lisa Baty and husband Alan, Scott Laminack and wife Regina, all of Devol, OK, Jana Gray and husband Aaron , of Burkburnett, TX, Jennifer Simpson and husband Steve, of Grandfield, OK and Julie Jackson and husband Ladd, of Elgin, OK; 7 great grandchildren, McKenna and Katelyn Laminack, Natalee and Nathan Gray, Brandt and Sydney Simpson, Ashlyn Jackson; other relatives and many friends.
