Minnie Ruth Shaw King was born to W.T. "Buster" and Elizabeth Brownlee Landrum Swinford on May 22, 1936 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on April 8, 2009 at the age of 72 years, 10 months and 17 days. Minnie Ruth grew up in Walters, OK and graduated from Walters High School in 1954. She married Lester Shaw on August 24, 1962 in Walters and he passed away on May 1, 1967. She later married Virgil King on January 29, 1969. She worked for Haggar Slack Company for several years before becoming a housewife. She lived most of her life in Walters and was a member of the Nazarene Church in Walters, where she participated in many activities within the church including teaching Sunday school and teaching Bible a study at the local nursing home. She was an avid learner and has read through an entire encyclopedia set. She was preceded by her father W.T. "Buster" Swinford, and a husband Lester Shaw. Survivors include her husband, of the home; a son Wade Shaw and his wife Judy of Lawton; a daughter Dianne Harrison and her husband Charlton Harris of Cache, OK; her mother Elizabeth Brownlee Landrum Swinford of Walters; two brothers, Travis Swinford of Fay, OK and George Swinford and his wife Gracie of Hammond, OK; two sisters Gene and husband Toby Richards of Benton, Arkansas and Nancy King of Vine Grove, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren, Teresa Fife, Brandon Goss, Pauline Harrison, Jason Shaw and Kristy Tosee; 11 great-grandchildren and many other family members and friends.
