Jehrie Sue Hurst

Jehrie Sue (Evans) Hurst was born to Albert Oren and Viola (Coe) Evans on October 5, 1931, at Walters, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK, on February 22, 2009, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 17 days. Jehrie grew up west of Walters, OK, in the Ahpeatone Community where she went to school until attending Walters High School, graduating in the Class of 1949. She then moved to California where she lived for 34 years working as a waitress for a restaurant chain and later worked many years as a bookkeeper for a wholesale grocery company. There she met and married Robert Frederick Hurst in 1962 and they eventually moved to Temple, OK, in 1981. Robert preceded her in death in November of 1982. Jehrie has made her home in Duncan, OK, since 1988 where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was very active in Sunday School and other church functions. She was also a part of a ladies group that enjoyed traveling and going to various theatrical productions. She was preceded by her parents, her husband and a sister, Barbara Janell Thomasson. Survivors include 2 brothers, Donald Evans of Oklahoma City and Ronald Evans of Tuchenbach, Germany; 3 sisters, Janie Roth of Defiance, MO, Jereada Bowers of Temple, OK, and Jo Ann Meyers of Minot, ND; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friend.
