Lou Belle (Ototivo) Gwoompi was born to Vilas and Angeline "Gommock" (Pea Ah Coos) Ototivo on January 11, 1924, east of Walters, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK, on February 11, 2009, at the age of 85 years and 1 month. Lou Belle grew up on Beaver Creek east of Walters, attending Lincoln Valley School where she enjoyed playing basketball. She eventually moved to town where she has made her home since that time. Lou Belle was a baptized member of Brown Indian Baptist Church, and has been attending the Open Door Church of God in Walters. She loved spending time with her grandkids and enjoyed her dogs and playing bingo. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mitchell Gwoompi; her brother, Clifford Ototivo, Sr.; her sister, Elizabeth Weryavah; her granddaughter, Angela Gwoompi; and her nephew, Timothy Ototivo. Survivors include 2 daughters, Rebecca Howlingwater and Phillis Mata and husband Tony all of Walters; 3 sons, Preston Henry Gwoompi and wife Belindia, Lavern "Popcorn" Gwoompi and Garrel Gwoompi all of Walters;12 grandchildren, Preston Foy Gwoompi, Anthony Mata, Shelby Mata, Shane Watts, Kyle Codynah, Kennya Codynah, Christal Ototivo, Wendy Ototivo, Jerome Howlingwater, Hayley Howlingwater, Rebekah Howell and Angelique' Gray; 30 great grandchildren; 3 nephews, Billy Joe Yackeyonny, Theodore Niedo and Dennis Niedo; a cousin, Marie Lookingglass Haumpy; many other relatives and friends.
