Alton Paul Wagner was born to Floyd Manuel and Carrie Myrtle (Lawler) Wagner on April 25, 1924, at Randlett, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK, on February 11, 2009, at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 17 days. Alton grew up in the Temple area graduating from THS in 1941. He married Mabel Dixon on April 9, 1945, at Temple and to the union 3 children were born. Alton joined the US Army serving his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. Upon his return from service the family moved to Oklahoma City, back to Temple, then to Dallas where he worked for a construction company as a carpenter supervisor. They eventually moved to Lawton and in 1979 Alton was elected as Business Agent for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 1585. He held the position for many years. Alton made his home in Sterling for the past 37 years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. Rather than having a hobby his life was centered around his grandkids and great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, in March of 2008; a brother Raymond Wagner; 2 sisters, Oneta Clingman and Mildred Calkins. He is survived by a son, Danny Wagner, of Lawton; 2 daughters, Karen Scott of Sterling and Carrie Jones and husband Stephen of Bakersfield, CA; 3 grandchildren, Chris Williams of Alex, OK, Sarah Jones and Jonathan Jones of Bakersfield; 6 great grandchildren, Anthony, Kristin, Ashley and Tobi Williams, Devin and Dylan Dollar; other relatives and many friends.
