Lester Schley Lynch was born to James Schley and Audie Lee (Fisher) Lynch on January 25, 1926, in rural Chattanooga, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK, on February 10, 2009, at the age of 83 years and 16 days. Lester grew up in the Chattanooga area farming with horses and plows. He joined the Navy because he wanted of overall's and farming on March, 12 1943. He served aboard the ship's; USS Gilmore, USS Duncan and the USS Cape Gloucester and earned the American Campaign, Asia Pacific, WWII Victory, Navy Occupation, China Service, National Defense Service, Korea Service, Philippians Liberation and the UN Service Medals. He married Barbara Zachary on September 26, 1997 at Noble, OK and they made their home at the Waurika Lake north of Hastings, OK. He spent some time in the Lawton/ Ft. Sill VA Retirement Center. He was a member of the Hastings Baptist Church and a lifetime member of the VFW post 5263 in Lawton. He was preceded in death by a brother, J.C. Lynch; and two sisters, Barbara Swyden and Vera Chadwick. Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; 4 children, Lois Darlene Lynch of Tulsa, OK, James Lee Lynch of Moore, OK, DeLone Marie Woods of Luther, OK and Patricia Chauvan Deloge of Redlands, CA; a brother, Gary Lynch and wife Johnny of Roswell, NM; a sister-in-law, Geneva Lynch of Enid, OK; a sister; Billie and husband Harold Moranville of Lawton; a aunt; Ossie Fergerson of Lawton; 4 grandchildren ; a great-grandson and other relatives and many friends.
