Ruth Edith Griffin

She was born 30 July 1924, in Elmore City, Garvin Co., OK, to Bee Bonnie Johnson and Roxie Willie (Fowler) and departed this life on 1 Feb 2009 in a local hospital in Lawton, Comanche Co., OK. Ruth spent her younger years growing up in Garvin County. She married Edward Clyde Griffin on 2 February 1942 in Elmore City, and the newly weds soon-after moved to Cotton County, in the Emerson Community west of Walters. Ruth soon became the mother of six children, David C. (wife, Joy Cunningham), Kathie L. (spouse: Larry Norman), Kenneth G. (deceased), Jesse J. (deceased), Steve S. (Jane Meisenhelter), and Ellen R. Newby. Except for a few years serving as cook at Big Pasture, Ruth was a full-time homemaker and could be found beside Ed farming. Ed preceded her in death in 1991. Ruth spent the rest of her life in Walters. She was a resident of the Walters Nursing Home and enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family members. Ruth leaves behind a brother, Reford Johnson, 4 children, 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom will miss her delightful smiles and wonderful disposition!
