Gloria Lee Thompson

Gloria Lee (Jones) Thompson was born to George William and Alma Eulia (Henderson) Jones on January 15, 1933, at Walters, OK and departed this life on January 29, 2009, at Lawton, OK, at the age of 76 years and 14 days. Gloria grew up a Walters. She married Joe Denman Thompson on December 28, 1949, at Wichita Falls, TX. They made their home in Oklahoma and Texas, eventually settling back at Walters in 1958. She first began working in beauty shop in the 1950's, later opening her own shop in 1972. She retired in the late 1990's. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters. Gloria enjoyed reading, painting and crafts. She and Joe also enjoyed traveling the county and after they both retired if you saw one somewhere, you saw the other. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on February 19, 2008; and was also preceded by a brother, George William Jones, Jr.; and 2 sisters, Virginia Irene Jones and Bonnie Ruth Holt. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Jo Ray and her husband Kyle of Burns Flat, OK; his son, Alan Ray Thompson and wife Kathy of Arapaho, OK; a brother, Jerry Wayne Jones of Iowa Park, TX; 5 grandchildren Ginger Cormier, Vanessa Larson, Alan Ray Thompson II, Sam Thompson and Custis Thompson; great grandchildren, Anthony Thompson, Alan Thompson III, Alex Tyler Thompson, Dawson Thompson, Stoney Cormier, Bryan Cormier, Trinity Larson, Shekinah Larson, Zacc Larson, David Michael Larson, Lane Wyatt Thompson, Calli Thompson, Madelyn Thompson and Daniel Thompson; other relatives and many friends.
