Benny George Lonsdale was born to Walter Hiram “Slim” and Sylvia (Thironet) Lonsdale on October 23, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA and departed this life in Burkburnett, TX on November 3, 2021 at the age of 92 years and 11 days.
Benny grew up in Schulter, OK, graduating from Schulter High School in 1946. He was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving his country honorably. At age 18 he began his 41-year career with PPG in Henryetta, OK. On May 5, 1950 he married Mary Catherine Bertero in Henryetta and to this union 2 children were born. She preceded him in death on February 12, 1966.
Benny later married Eva Sue (Thompson) on April 8, 1967 in Henryetta. They brought 5 children to the marriage and then added 2 more girls to the union. The family moved to Burkburnett in 1974 and Benny continued working for PPG until retiring in 1990. In 1991 the couple returned to Henryetta but eventually made their way to Randlett in 2007. She preceded him in death November 6, 2013.
Benny was a member of First Baptist Church, Devol, OK. He enjoyed fishing, bird hunting, gardening, dominoes, digging stickers, reading his Bible and watching boxing. He enjoyed babies and loved time spent with his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 beloved wives; 2 brothers, Wally and Gene Lonsdale; a sister, Veda Fronabarger; a daughter, Terri Hoskison; and a grandson, Colton Bentley.
Survivors include 6 children and spouses, Trish Griffin and Rodney of Randlett, OK, John Lonsdale and Carolyn of Okay, OK, Lori Couch and Michael of Wichita Falls, TX, Lisa Lonsdale of Wichita Falls, Amy Row and Robert of Whitesboro, TX, Susan Dombeck and Jeremy of Mustang, OK; a brother, Jim Lonsdale and Linda of Henryetta; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
