Bertha Mae (Baldwin) Tisdale-Evans was born to Luther “Shorty” and Maude (Fowler) Baldwin on April 3, 1925, in Marlin, TX, and departed this life in Temple, OK, on January 26, 2025, at the age of 99 years, 9 months, and 23 days.

Bertha grew up at Temple. She married Herman Tisdale on October 20, 1942, in Cotton County, OK, and to the union, 6 children were born. She later married Fritz Evans on February 26, 1955, in Duncan, OK, making their home there. Fritz preceded her in death in 1964, and she returned to Temple, working at the Hagger Slacks factory for many years until its closing in the early 90’s. She then worked at the Temple Nutrition Center to give back to the community.

Bertha was a long-time member of The Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Temple. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing games with the kids when they were young, and playing dominoes and cards. She was kindhearted, enjoyed keeping up with people, and would help anyone. She took in stray cats and dogs and, through the years, enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, and working in the yard and garden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Luther and Maude Baldwin; her husband, Fritz Evans; two brothers, Jack and Ernest Baldwin; a sister, Ruby Cox; three sons, Harvey Lynn, Jewell, and Lawrence Tisdale; a grandson, Darryl Tisdale; and two great-grandsons, DeShon Wartley and Jeremiah Brathwaite.

She is survived by a daughter, Christine Wartley and Henry of Temple; two sons, Hubert Tisdale and Linda of Temple and Bradford Tisdale of Temple; a brother she raised as a son, Dennis Baldwin and Barbara of Duncan; a sister, Stella Mae Jones of Temple; and a daughter-in-law, LaDoris Tisdale of Marshall, TX.

She leaves a legacy of 23 grandchildren, 94 great-grandchildren, 32 great-great-grandchildren, and many other relatives and friends.
