Funeral services for Betty Lou Dyer will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home of Walters, Oklahoma. Don Crow of the Walters Church Of Christ officiating with assistance from Mark Greenroy of Joshua, Texas.
Betty Lou Dyer was welcomed into Heaven by her Heavenly Father on February 19, 2025 at the age of 85. Although her passing was unexpected, we rejoice in the faith we have in Christ, knowing that Betty is now resting peacefully in her new body and the presence of her Lord and Savior.
Betty was born on October 12, 1939 in a farmhouse near Temple, Oklahoma to Joe and Rena Phillips. At an early age her family moved to Walters, Oklahoma where Betty attended school, graduating from Walters High School in 1957. During this time, Betty was a member and attended the Walters Church Of Christ.
After graduation, Betty moved to Wichita Falls, Texas and worked for the telephone company for one year. While Living in Wichita Falls, Betty developed a taste for the steak sandwich on garlic toast that was served at the Pioneer 3 restaurant.
Betty then moved to Lawton, Oklahoma after being hired by the Security Bank and Trust Company. Betty was employed there from 1959 till her retirement in 2000. While employed at the bank, Betty worked as a teller and as an ATM Manager.
Betty married the love of her life Ronald Wayne Dyer on June 30, 1962 at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Betty and Ronny enjoyed 62 years of marriage. They made their home in Lawton and raised two sons. While living in Lawton, Betty was a member and attended the 8th and Lee Church of Christ.
In 2009 Betty and Ronny moved to Norman, Oklahoma to be closer to their sons, daughters-in-law and grandsons. Betty loved her sons but she had a special love for her grandsons.
Betty’s interests included being a big fan of the University of Oklahoma football teams of the 1970’s and 80’s. Betty never passed up a chance to point out to Ronny when they beat his Texas Longhorns. She was also a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder basketball team and very rarely missed a TV broadcast.
Most of all, Betty was a faithful Christian and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and lived by His Word.
Betty is survived by her husband of the home, Ronny Dyer, two sons, Drew Dyer and wife, Kellie, and E.J. Dyer and wife Christi. Four grandsons, Jake and wife Mikayla, Jackson, Ethan, and Will. Two sisters, Shirley Greenroy and her son Mark Greenroy and family, and Vickie Forbrich and her son Phillip Forbrich and family.
Betty was preceeded in death by her parents, Joe and Rena, a sister, Grace, and a brother Leroy.
Betty was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, and will be missed terribly by her family and those that knew her.
