Bobby Abels

Graveside Services at the Walters Cemetery, Thursday, December 17, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK.

Bobby Joe Abels was born to Jess Paul and Leona (Garr) Abels on June 1, 1940 in Baird, TX and departed this life in Abilene, TX on December 13, 2020 at the age of 80 years, 6 months and 12 days.

Coming from Baird, TX at the age of 10, Bobby lived the remainder of his youth in and the majority of his twenties in Abilene. He moved to the Dallas/Fort Worth area in the late 1960s where he worked as a welder. In the 1970s he moved to Geronimo, OK and soon on to Walters in 1986 where he has made his home since that time. Bobby worked for Bruton Construction building bridges for many years.

He enjoyed the country life, horses and rodeos. He was a big fan of NASCAR and enjoyed watching his grandsons and a great grandson on the dirt track.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Patricia in 2011; several siblings.

Survivors include 6 children and spouses, Bobby Abels, Jr. and Donna of Abilene, TX, Larry Abels and Twyla of Abilene, Rhonda Pace and Jimmy of Hawley, TX, Leona Daniels of Abilene, Vicki Putnam and Jason of Abilene, and Jennifer Russell and Jimmie of Walters; his siblings, Melba Townzen of Round Rock, TX, Francis Scalf of Altus, OK, Loraine Cryer of Round Rock, Ima Mitchell of Lubbock, TX, Cookie Brashears of Bandera, TX, and Troy Abels of DeLeon, TX; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
