Funeral Services at First Baptist Church in Walters, OK on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., Dr. Jack Jacob officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Brent Dean Anderson was born to Donald Dean and Bernice Mary (Boydston) Anderson on January 14, 1963 in Topeka, KS and departed this life in Norman, OK on October 6, 2019.

Brent grew up at Mooreland, OK where his family settled in 1969. He graduated from Mooreland High School in 1982 and that summer on July 10, 1982 he married Leasa LaVern Jones in Woodward, OK. They moved to Liberal, KS in 1983 where he worked at the feed yard and then moved to Velma, OK in 1986. He joined the U.S. Navy on March 18, 1987 and the family headed back to Liberal until they could settle in with him at Bangor Sub Base in Washington State in February of 1988. He was released from active duty in September 1996 and from the Reserves in 2004, after 17 years of honorable service which included time in the Cold War, Persian Gulf War, Desert Shield and Storm, the War on Terrorism and the Iraq War.

The family had moved to Plains, KS in 1996 and back to Liberal in 2012. He worked 21 years as a journeyman electrician, first for Harvey and Sons Electric, then for B&B Electric, he was safety coordinator at Tri-State Casing Service, then to Presley Solutions before working as an IT electrician at Conestoga until his health failed in 2018.

His grandbabies were his favorite hobby, taking them swimming, out for ice cream and other treats, taking them to the theater to watch cartoon movies, and snuggling and cuddling with them. He wanted to teach his kids and grandkids life lessons, and loved to embarrass them too. He loved his dogs. He was a big teddy bear and very giving. He was willing to take in anyone he needed to. Brent was an active member of the American Legion Post 80, and had served as Cub Scout Leader when the kids were younger. He loved wood working, tinkering and building stuff. He enjoyed mowing and doing yardwork, and loved winning “Yard of the Month” on numerous occasions. He was a people person and loved eating flavored popcorn from a tin.

He was preceded in death by his in-laws, Jimmie and Freda Jones; his brothers-in-law, John Hatton, James Jones and Van Bartlett; his sister-in-law, Angel Roper; and nephews, Cody and Nathan Roper.

Brent is survived by his wife, Leasa of the home; 2 sons, Dean Anderson and wife Rachel of Norman, and Jay Anderson of Liberal, KS; his daughter, Misti Oczkus and husband Cooper of Seminole, TX; his daughter-in-law, Hillary Anderson of Liberal; 6 beloved grandkids, Dinah, Jack and Lucy Anderson, Lyla and Bailee Anderson, and Caralynn Oczkus; his parents, Don and Bernice Anderson of Mooreland, OK; 2 brothers and their wives, Brian and Deborah Anderson of Collinsville, OK, Bruce and Janet Anderson of Wichita, KS; his sister, Angie Hatton of Wichita, KS; his sisters-in-law and spouses, Pam York, Theresa and Troy Castor, Tina and Luca Henry, Julie and Bruce Price, Twila and Shawn Farrar, Crystal and Bill Smith; his 4-legged babies, Missile and Sophie; many other relatives and friends.
