Carmelo P. Ramirez passed away Sunday, November 14, 2021, in Lawton at the age of 66 years.
Carmelo was born December 22, 1954, in Arecibo, Puerto Rico to Inocencio Perez and Carmen Ramirez. He received his High School Diploma through the Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington. Enlisting in the US Army in 1975, Sgt. Ramirez had a distinguished career, earning three Oversea Service Ribbons, the Army Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Ribbon, three Army Good Conduct Medals, three Army Achievement Medals, Kuwait Liberation Medal, and the Rifle M-16 (Sharpshooter) before discharging in March 1992.
After serving his country he worked as a Correctional Officer at the Graterford Correctional Facility in Montgomery, Pennsylvania and the Dick Conners Correctional Facility in Hominy, Oklahoma. He married the love of his life, Carry L. Goff August 28, 2004, in Hominy, Oklahoma. He enjoyed working on cars and electronics, watching T.V. and spending time with his family.
Carmelo is survived by his wife Carry, of the home; three sons, Dondi Ramirez, Christopher Michael Ramirez, and Anthony Michael Ramirez and fiance Jaci Walker; his mother, Carmen Ramirez; one grandson, Nikko Antonio Ramirez; one brother; and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers.
