Cary S. McCoy, Jr. was born July 11, 1937 in Hattiesburg, MS and departed this life on July 15, 2020 in Lawton, OK at the age of 83 years and 4 days.

Cary grew up in Petal, MS, graduating from East Forrest High School in 1955. He went on to attend Mississippi Southern and later Mississippi State. He married Barbara Padgett of Washington, DC on March 7, 1958 in Hyattsville, MD. He spent most of his adult years as a research forester for Texas A&M and as a rural mail carrier for the Hattiesburg, MS, Post Office.

Cary was an active part of a church wherever he was living. Fishing and hunting were his hobbies, and he was an avid reader.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cary S. McCoy and Jessie (Parker) McCoy; and a sister, Binnie Lee (McCoy) Mackenzie.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara McCoy of Walters, OK; sister, Sandra Bell of Clarksville, TN; children, Cary & Jan McCoy of Walters, OK, Kathy McCoy and Carolyn McCoy of Petal, MS, Ben McCoy of Edinburg, TX; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Virginia and Donald Byrd of Savannah, TN; grandchildren, Luke McCoy and fiancé Cheyanna Dorame of Port Orchard, WA, Isaac McCoy of Petal, MS, Robert and Jen McCoy of Columbus, GA, Megan McCoy of Oklahoma City, OK and Sarah McCoy of Walters, OK; and many nieces and nephews.
