Graveside Service at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK on Monday, April 7, 2025 at 2:00 p.m., under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Viewing on Sunday, April 6 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Clyde Lee Chemah was born to Henry Fred and Flossie May (Parks) Chemah on November 18, 1930 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on March 31, 2025 at the age of 94 years, 4 months and 13 days.
Clyde grew up at Walters and then went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy. He married Virgie Lee Mason and to the Union 2 children were born. They made their home in California where Clyde worked for RCA and then moved to Fort Worth, TX, continuing to work for RCA. They returned to Walters in 1974. He worked at the lumber yard for a few years before going to work at Goodyear. During his retirement years he would stay in Vegas for months at a time, working as a casino security guard. Clyde enjoyed powwows, camping, and going to the casino.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Fred Chemah and Flossie Chemah Swinford; his son, Clyde Lee “Zooner” Chemah Jr. in 2013; and his companion, Gloria Marie Eckiwaudah in 2021.
He is survived by his daughter, Cheryl Chemah of Walters; his granddaughter, Cortney Correll and husband Quinton of Oklahoma City; 2 great grandchildren, Annalita and Ezariah; his sister, Patty Powers of Walters; a sister-in-law, Donna Chemah of Walters; 3 nieces, a nephew, and numerous great nieces and nephews.
