Jessie Dale Wampler was born to Jessie Lee and Katie Viola (Smith) Wampler on August 23, 1939 in Walters, OK and departed this life in Temple, OK on January 18, 2025 at the age of 85 years, 4 months and 26 days.

Dale grew up in the Emerson Community west of Walters, graduating from Ahpeatone High School in 1957. He married Annie Laura Smith on October 20, 1956 in Wichita Falls, TX, making their home in Lawton where he worked at a service station. To their union 3 children were born. The young family lived in Lawton and Walters, and then to Pacos, TX, while Dale roughnecked. They eventually made it to Los Angeles, CA where Dale learned the transmission business. They were soon joined by 3 of Annie’s siblings and their young families, with all 4 families sharing a 2-bedroom home. While in California, Mrs. Fisher visited them from a local church and Annie was saved. Dale noticed the change in her life and he soon accepted Christ as well.

The family stayed a year before returning to Walters and Dale soon began doing transmission work in Wichita Falls, moving the family to Burkburnett. They returned to Walters and Dale did transmission work in Lawton for a time before working out of his own garage and later opening a shop west of the Courthouse in 1977. Wampler Transmission has been at its current Kansas Street location since 1980. Through the years Dale was proud to have worked alongside and mentored his son Steve, who took over the shop upon his retirement. He also enjoyed operating Wampler Antiques, which also included a successful eBay side to the business.

Dale was a member of First Baptist Church in Walters. He enjoyed swap meets and swapping stories, restoring antique motorcycles and cars. He also enjoyed jukeboxes and old record players. He loved making old things work and then making them work even better. He loved trips to Canton and Branson, always visiting the malt shop. He also loved taking the great grandkids for rides on the scooter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jessie and Katie Wampler; and his son-in-law, Wade Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Annie, of the home; a son, Steve and Sherry Wampler of Walters; 2 daughters, Sandy Anderson, Beverly and Richard Anderson all of Walters; his sister, Quetha and Clarence Cobb of Lawton, OK; 4 sisters-in-law, Ellen Brown, Bonnie McGinnis, Connie Smith and Linda Smith; 6 grandkids, Cory Anderson and Cara of Elgin, Cody Wampler and Tammie of Norman, Traci Dryden and Kris of Walters, Cassie Berry and Nolan of Walters, Lauren Wayman and Randall of Walters, Trey Anderson and Ryan of Walters; 18 great grandchildren, Cale, Camron and Melana, Cassidy and Josh, Stevi, Nevaeh, Ashlynn, Gage, Asa, Cana, Charis, Jamin, Jack, Gideon, Beau, Mason, Jolee, Easton, and Max; 5 great-great grandkids, Owen, Tilly, Saige, Noah, and Caleb; many other relatives and friends.
