Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m., with burial in the Walters Cemetery.
Darrel Lee Farris was born to Guel Lee and Verna Gladys (Johnson) Farris on February 24, 1939 at Faxon, OK and departed this life in Dallas, TX on February 22, 2019 at the age of 79 years, 11 months and 29 days.
Darrel began life in the Faxon area and then the family moved to Lawton, OK where he attended Lincoln Elementary and then Central High School in Lawton. He served his country honorably in both the National Guard and Reserves. He eventually went to work for Southwestern Bell in 1962 and retired after 39 years with the company in 2001.
Darrel had married Judith Arlene (Warren) Hartline on January 24, 1969 in Lawton and the couple had 8 children between them. They made their home in Lawton until moving to Walters in 1986.
He enjoyed golfing, fishing, antiquing, cooking, collecting tea pots and loved his many cuckoo clocks. He also enjoyed watching TV, especially cooking shows, westerns, frontier and homestead type shows.
He was preceded by his parents; a brother Jimmy Farris; his wife, Judy, in 2014; a son, Donnie Farris; and a special aunt, Mary Lou Sylvester.
Darrel is survived by 7 children and their spouses, Donna Neeff of Virginia, Mike and Beverly Farris of Edmond, OK, Chris and Sandy Farris of Bryan, TX, Mindy Farris of Dallas, TX, Joe Farris of Walters, Leslie and Ric DeCastro of Plano, TX, James and Jennifer Farris of Walters; 2 sisters, Maxine Wright of Lawton, OK and Gladys Reisch of Seminole, FL; 18 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
