Eddie Mae Kohutek

Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Walters, OK, Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., Dr. Jack Jacob officiating with burial in the Walters Cemetery under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters. Visitation on Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m.

Eddie Mae (Edmonds) Kohutek was born to John Eddie and Lela A. (Williams) Edmonds on February 14, 1925 in rural Randlett, OK on West Cache Creek and departed this life in rural Devol, OK on March 12, 2022 at the age of 97 years and 26 days.

Eddie Mae grew up on West Cache attending Union Valley School. She graduated form Union Valley High School in 1944. After high school she moved to California, working as a welder in the shipyards during WWII. She returned to Cotton County and soon married Joseph Douglas Kohutek on July 5, 1946 in Wichita Falls. They returned to California in the late 1940’s and Eddie Mae was a homemaker while the kids were younger. She went to work at Champs Candy Factory around 1963 and by 1968 the family had returned to a farm at Devol. She went to work at Haggars in Temple for several years and they eventually moved to Walters in 1975. After losing Joe in 2013 she later moved to Edmond in May of 2019 to be near a son. She returned to Cotton County in December of 2020 living with a daughter in Cookietown.

Through the years Eddie Mae enjoyed doing crochet, word search, watching westerns and keeping grandkids. She had been a Sunday School teacher, and was active with the PTA and little league in California when the kids were growing up. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Walters and had been one of the first members of Union Valley Baptist Church in Cookietown in its early days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joe Kohutek; her daughter, Sharon Aldahl; a brother, Vernon Edmonds; and a sister, Genevie Rodden.

Eddie Mae is survived by 4 children and spouses, Ron Kohutek and Susan of Waxhaw, NC, Doug Kohutek and Susanne of Edmond, OK, Devryl Lynn Ginn and Buzzy of Cuchara, CO, and Donna Zweiacker of Devol, OK; a son-in-law, Richard Aldahl of Arizona; a sister, Mary Shinkle of Walters, OK; 7 grandchildren, Casie Burrell, Scott Kohutek, Jodi Kohutek, Monica Helberg, Chris Kohutek, Michael Zweiacker and Marcus Zweiacker; 9 great grandchildren, Tyler Burrell, Kameron Kohutek, Parker Kohutek, Paxton Kohutek, MacKenzie Kohutek, Micah Zweiacker, Kenzie Zweiacker, Declan Mahoney and Kaulynn Kohutek; 1 great-great grandchild, Ameer Burrell; other relatives and friends.
