Fred Buchanan, 61, Walters, OK
Frederick Laverne Buchanan was born to Frederick Warren “Buck” and Delores (Kitzmiller) Buchanan on September 5, 1962 in Seattle, WA and departed this life in Walters, OK on April 16, 2024 at the age of 61 years, 7 months and 11 days.
Fred grew up at Bigfork, Montana, graduating from Bigfork High School in 1980. He married Cathy Anne Brewer and to the union a daughter, Christina was born. He later married Ann LaCross and to this union a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Tyler, were born.
Fred had a 14 year career with the U.S. Army. In 1985 the Army took him to Germany, then to New York and back to Germany. He transferred to Fort Sill, OK in 1990 living in Lawton until returning to Montana in 1993. There he worked as a logger, was a caretaker of a bison ranch, had a hunting and fishing guide service with his dad, and also owned a mechanic shop.
He returned to Duncan, OK in 2012 where he married Penny Rodriguez. They moved to Walters, OK in 2013 where he worked for Cotton Electric. He was later employed by L & B Transport, and Kubota until his health failed.
Fred enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved making something out of nothing, had a knack for fixin and makin, and could always repurpose things.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Delores Buchanan; and his wife Penny Buchanan in 2023.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Christina Hamilton and Randy of Three Forks, MT, and Hannah Buchanan of Lawton, OK; a son, Tyler Buchanan and wife Stephanie of Duncan, OK; a stepson, Alex Thomas of Norman, OK; a stepdaughter, Valerie Sanders and husband Brandon of Santo, TX; 13 grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
