Gary Dean Bridges was born to Arthur Walker and Lota D. (Blay) Bridges on October 18, 1946 in Hasting, OK and departed this life in Amarillo, TX on May 12, 2024 at the age of 77 years, 6 months and 24 days.
Gary grew up at Hastings, OK and then served his country honorably with the U.S. Army in Germany. He married Carolyn Sue Bohot and to the union 3 daughters were born. He moved from Waurika, OK to Amarillo, TX in 1986 and continued driving a big rig, doing cross country heavy haul and then hauled cattle the last 3 years, retiring in 2020.
Gary loved trucking and knew his way around the entire country during his 50-year career. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, going out to eat, and making trips to Las Vegas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Summer Benson; his grandson, C.E. Benson; and 4 brothers, Loren, Dugan, Olin and Don Bridges.
Survivors include his wife, Jacqueline Salinas Bridges of Amarillo, TX; 2 daughters, Heather Hernandez and Santiago of Garland, TX, and Dallas Hayes and Kevin of Chickasha, OK; 3 sisters, Charlotte Peck and B.G. of Comanche, OK, Pat Burgess of Las Vegas, NV, and Lisa Gillmore of Rockdale, TX; a brother, Farrell Bridges and Marilyn of Marlow, OK; 10 grandchildren, Allison Neal of Frisco, TX, Mary Hope Puente of Dallas, TX, Summer Boyett and Ian of Wiley, TX, A.J. Puente of Garland, TX, Lillie Benson and Payton Benson both of Randlett, OK, Kason Hayes of Chickasha, Karla Hernandez of Garland, Senya Burns and Talent Salinas both of Amarillo; 4 great grandchildren, Dylan Robinson, Hannah Robinson, Conor Robinson and Jameson Boyett; many other relatives and friends.
