Gaye Lynne (Hickman) Golden was born to Paul Hickman and Geraldine Aggie (Cusher) Woodard on December 29, 1962 in Canyon, TX and departed this life on September 10, 2024 in Walters, OK at the age of 61.
Gaye was raised by her grandparents Buck and Jency Cusher and grew up in Dimmitt, TX where she attended First Christian Church and was baptized. She attended vacation bible school and church camp every year. In her freshman year she moved to Walters, OK and attended Walters High School where she graduated in 1981.
In high school, Gaye was President of the Pep Club for 3 years, President of FHA for 4 years, Secretary of Key Club for 2 years and Class President her Senior year. After high school she attended Phillips University where she was a member of the Comet Club. She was a Customer Service Representative for Home Depot for over 20 years.
Gaye married Robert Eugene Golden in 1982 and they made their home in Garland, TX. Robert preceded her in death in 2000 and she continued to live in the Dallas, TX area until about 2 years ago when she returned to Walters.
Gaye loved dogs and rescued many throughout her life. She also enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Buck and Jency Cusher; her father, Paul Hickman; her mother, Geraldine Woodard; her husband, Robert Golden; and a brother, Paul D. Hickman.
Gaye is survived by her brothers, Robert Dean Hickman of Oklahoma, Troy Hickman and wife Julie of Oklahoma, and Robert Wayne Hickman and wife Deanna of Texas; her sisters, Letitia Malone and husband Roger of North Carolina and Jacqueline Guillermo and husband Dennis of Arizona; her nephews, Jonathan Dillon of Texas and Aaron Dillon of Texas; a great nephew Jonathan, Jr.; great niece Jackalyn; and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association.
