Gena Blankenship

Graveside Services in the Walters Cemetery, Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 10:00 a.m., Rev. Wes Kinder officiating. Visitation on Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home.

Gena “Jean” Voyne Fincher Blankenship was born in Oklahoma City, OK on April 24, 1936 to Jesse and Beulah Fincher. She departed this life on April 7, 2021 in Lawton, OK at the age of 84.

She grew up in Frederick, OK before moving with her family to Walters, OK where she attended high school.

She married Thomas “Tommy” Edward Blankenship on August 15, 1952 in Walters, OK. They were stationed in Germany in 1954, where they welcomed their daughter, Debbie Ann Blankenship, and then returned to the States.

They eventually moved back to Walters, OK where she made their home after Tommy was injured in Germany.

She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Walters and also attended church with her family at Ahpeatone Baptist Church.

She also loved decorating, crafting & shopping! She took great joy in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Beulah Fincher; her husband, Tommy; her older brother, Charles Fincher and youngest sister, Carol Fincher Wilson.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and David Gammill of Chattanooga, OK. Three grandchildren: Mandi Gammill of Moore, OK; Adam Gammill and his wife, Mackey, of Davis, OK and Josh Gammill and his wife, Talia, of Chattanooga, OK. And five great-grandchildren: Bailey Gammill of Madill, OK; Trey Gammill of Davis, OK; Steven Guerrero III of Moore, OK; and Evelynn & Lee Gammill of Chattanooga, OK. She is also survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Donna & Charles Chemah of Walters, OK; brother-in-law, Bob Wilson of Tecumseh, OK and sister-in-law, Diane Fincher of Oklahoma City.
And beloved nieces and nephews: Tonya Hegwood & Teresa Chemah Johnson, Todd & Mark Wilson and Jill and Kyle Fincher.

Jean was a fun-loving, full of life personality. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
