Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home, Walters, OK, Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., Rev. Gary Thurman Officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery.

Jeannie Mae (Chambers) Davis was born to Orval Hampton and Lema Mae (Tipton) Chambers on March 15, 1930 in rural Cotton County, OK and departed this life in Duncan, OK on November 26, 2022 at the age of 92 years, 8 months and 11 days.

Jeannie grew up in Cotton County, attending Prospect country school and then Walters Public Schools, graduating from WHS in 1948. She married Harold Lloyd Davis on July 3, 1948 in Lawton, OK, living in Texas and Oklahoma through the years, but calling Temple home. She worked for Dr. Smith in Walters while still in high school, was a secretary in Wichita Falls, was a stay-at-home mom and farmer and worked for Dr. Gott in Walters. On one of their stints in Corpus Christi she worked as a deck hand on a shrimp boat that Harold built. They eventually moved back to the farm north of Temple. Jeannie became a mail carrier in the Temple and Randlett areas. After she retired, they continued living on the farm.

Jeannie went to ground school and then trained in flying with Eddie Laxon as she and Harold had their own plane. She enjoyed horseback riding, swimming, playing dominos, fishing on Waurika Lake, cooking, traveling, and always named and knew every cow. She loved spending time and playing with the grandkids and great grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold; her son Michael Harold “Mike” Davis; her great grandson, Dow Logan Brede; and 2 brothers, Sherrill “Ray” Chambers and Wendell Keith Chambers.

She is survived by 3 children and their spouses, Ann Brede and Buddy of Temple, OK, Wayne Davis and JoAnn of Corpus Christi, Helen Thurman and Gary of Walters, OK; a sister and brother-in-law, Carol Waller and Dave of McLoud, OK; a daughter-in-law, Paula Davis of San Antonio, TX; 11 grandchildren, Dodie, Robbi, William, Daniel, Jeanna, Melissa, Lori, Scott, Jason, Jeremy and Jennifer; 13 great grandchildren, Brennan, Ella, Blake, Warren, Addie, Sara, Joshua, Jacob, Rose, Melody, Joshua, Belle and David; other relatives and friends.
