Funeral services for Jerry Bob Lemons will be conducted at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Phillip Hart officiating.  Burial will be at the Walters Cemetery.

Jerry Bob Lemons was born to Robert Carroll and Dorothy Marie (Oliver) Lemons on November 21, 1940, in his Grandmother Oliver’s home in Walters, Oklahoma.  He departed this life for his heavenly home on April 24, 2024, in Edmond, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years, 5 months and 3 days.

Jerry Bob was raised in Walters and graduated from Walters Public Schools in 1959.  He enjoyed playing catcher for the baseball team growing up.  He was active in FFA, raising and showing poultry and pigs.  He received the Grand Champion Barrow of Cotton County in 1957 and 1958.  He was manager of the football team for the Blue Devils.

Jerry Bob was married to his first wife, Linda Southward and to this union one son was born, Joel Thomas Scott Lemons.  He met and married his wife, Barbara Janette Frost on May 11, 1963, in Hastings, Oklahoma.   They made many wonderful memories together for over 60 years.  Together they had a daughter, Jennifer Janette (Lemons) Kay and a son, Rodney Bob Lemons.

Jerry had varied interests and talents and he demonstrated those in his wide variety of ways to earn money.  He never had just one job at a time.   He worked as a laborer with the Oklahoma Highway Department.  He was an operator doing finishing work with Ft. Sill Associates.  He attended one semester at Cameron State Agricultural College before returning home to help with family expenses. That’s when he began his nearly 40 years in the banking industry.  He began in September, 1960, working for Mr. Reynolds at the Walters National Bank as a teller for $175/month.   He continued working and learned posting and bookkeeping the old-fashioned way and changed over to computers, loaned money in the boom days and became President on February 1, 1982.  Over the years, Jerry plowed for Ralph Hoodenpyle and the Gandy’s.  He sold real estate.  Jerry and Janette had several businesses such as raising white German Shepherds, raising parakeets, owning and operating a car wash, and the latest endeavor was Lemons Lawn Care. He enjoyed serving in his community by participating in Lions Club and Cotton County Fair Board and served in many capacities for both organizations.  He served as auditor for the Miss Walters Pageant for many years.   He was a collector of all things, especially tools.  He enjoyed wood working and completed several cherished projects amongst family members.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Walters and taught Sunday School for several years.  And, if you knew Jerry Bob you also knew that he did all these things while wearing a nice comfortable pair of cowboy boots.  He enjoyed watching his grandsons grow up and attending as many games and performances as possible.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Carroll (Bob) and Dorothy Lemons.  His sister, Carol Ann (Lemons) Newman, a nephew, Randy Newman and numerous loved aunts and uncles.

Survivors include his wife of the home, Janette Lemons.  His son, Joel Lemons of San Jose, California.  His daughter, Jennifer and Kelly Kay of Edmond, Oklahoma.  His son, Rodney Lemons of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Grandchildren: Wyatt Lemons of Huntington Beach, California.  Chance Lemons, Cade Lemons and Blaze Lemons of San Jose, California.  Jaxon and Deja Kay of Mustang, Oklahoma.  Cameron Kay and Aspen Chapline of Edmond, Oklahoma.  Carson Kay and Skylar Puckett of The Village, Oklahoma.  Cail Lemons, Abe Lemons and Drew Lemons of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  Great Grandson, Carter McLean Kay of Mustang, Oklahoma.  Many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, cousins and other much loved friends and relatives.
