Jo Ann Davis

Jo Ann (Rogers) Davis was born to Winfred Holt and Adela Jane (Zdansky) Rogers on July 21, 1959 in Corpus Christi, TX and departed this life in Corpus Christi on June 30, 2023 at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 9 days.

Jo Ann grew in Corpus Christi, graduating from King High School in 1978. She married Lloyd Wayne Davis on January 4, 1978 in Corpus Christi and made their home in Palestine, TX with his oilfield job. Wayne joined the Navy in 1983 and while in, the family made their home in Charleston, SC, Portland, ME, Pensacola, FL, Panama City Beach, FL and Portland, TX. During this 12-year stretch Jo Ann ran the household with 3 children and rolled with whatever challenges came her way, as Wayne was on a ship much of the time. 

Upon Wayne’s discharge, the family moved to San Antonio, TX where he began a 25-year career with the railroad and she continued with the all-important work of running their home. The couple returned to Corpus Christi in 2019 and he recently retired from the railroad. Here, they have enjoyed long walks, going out to eat and watching TV together. Jo Ann also enjoyed playing Bingo with her sisters. She loved spending time in person and on the phone with her kids and grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Winfred and Adela Rogers; and her in-laws, Harold and Jeannie Davis.

Jo Ann is survived by her husband of 45 years, Wayne Davis of the home; 3 children, Jason Davis and Jodi of Temple, TX, Jeremy Davis and Maybelle, of San Antonio, and Jennifer Davis of San Antonio; 5 brothers and sisters, Alan Rogers and Dianne Rogers both of Corpus Christi, Mike Rogers of Houston, Judy Rodriguez and Victor, Brenda Beaupre and Steve all of Corpus Christi; 2 sisters-in-law, Helen Thurman and Gary of Walters, OK, Ann Brede and Buddy of Temple, OK; 5 grandchildren, David Cantrell, Joshua Davis, Rose Davis, Melody Davis and Isabelle Davis; other relatives and friends.
