Kenneth Ray McNabb

Funeral Services at First Baptist Church, Geronimo, OK at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019, Rev. John Cullison officiating. A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the Celestial Gardens Cemetery in Cyril, OK. Visitation will be held at Hart-Wyatt from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m., on Friday, September 27.

Kenneth Ray McNabb was born to George and Dorothy McNabb on April 29, 1931 at Cyril, OK and departed this life in Lawton, OK on September 24, 2019 at the age of 88 years, 4 months and 26 days.

Kenneth grew up at Cyril, graduating in 1949. He soon joined the Oklahoma National Guard, 45th Division, in 1949 and was called up to serve his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. His honorable services included time at Camp Polk, LA, then to Sapporo, Japan for a year then onto Korea, serving just below the front lines. He returned to San Francisco and then discharged at Ft. Sill.

He had married Maxine Love on March 13, 1951 at Wichita Falls, TX and to the union 3 daughters were born. Kenneth attended 2 years of college in Weatherford before beginning a 33-year career with Halliburton. The family made their home mainly in Duncan, OK and Bossier City, LA during those years, although the job took him abroad to Singapore and Jakarta for a time. He retired in 1991 and the next year moved to Cyril, OK, where he eventually served a 2-year term as Mayor.

Maxine preceded him in death in 2005 and he later married Dorothy (Nelson) Solomon on February 26, 2006 at Cookietown, OK. They continued making their home in Cyril until moving to Geronimo in 2010.

Kenneth was a member of First Baptist Church in Geronimo and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He enjoyed watching old westerns on TV. He was a fan of OU football and was very fond of LSU and the Saints as well.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Maxine, 3 brothers and a sister.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Dorothy of Lawton; 3 daughters and husbands, Sandra Jane and Willard Cook of Glenwood, IA, Nancy Christine and Ron Shodeen of Parma, ID, Kathleen Marie and Russell Johns of Shreveport, LA; 4 bonus daughters and husbands, Cerita Miller of Bixby, OK, Sherry and Clint Hooper of Wichita Falls, TX, Sara and Bill Crow of Walters, Rebecca and George Johnson of Walters; a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
