KENNETH J. WAMPLER

February 22, 1932 — October 18, 2022

A Memorial Service will be held at the Temple Cemetery Pavillion, Monday, October 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with Steve Wampler and Kevin Smith officiating under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Kenneth Jay Wampler was born February 22, 1932 southeast of Temple, Oklahoma in rural Hastings to William Roy and Blanche Lillian (Morrison) Wampler and departed this life in Duncan, OK on October 18, 2022 at the age of 90 years, 7 months and 26 days.

Kenneth grew up on a farm southeast of Temple, graduating from THS. He married Wilma Ramey in 1952 and to the union a son, Steve, was born. Kenneth made his home mainly in Southwest Oklahoma and North Texas, but for a time in Tulsa and Farmington, New Mexico. Through the years he was engaged in farming and worked in banking and sales.

Ken was a firearms expert and was passionate about the sport of hunting, being taught from an early age by his grandfather. He instructed many people how to safely use and maintain their firearms throughout his life. Ken enjoyed visiting with people and had many stories and memories he loved to share. He traveled often for both work and pleasure. He was a lifelong believer in Jesus Christ and loved gospel music.

On August 9, 2020, Ken married Annie “Ann” (Salazar) Supernor at Faith Fellowship in Denison, TX. They had recently made their home in Lawton, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Blanche Wampler; and siblings, Dorothy Clark, William Roy Wampler, Jr., Strohm Wampler and Annette Preston.

Survivors include his wife, Ann, of the home; his son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Nan Sue Wampler of Denison, TX; his step children, Shelly Underhill and Bobby Supernor; step grandson, Jordan Shepler; several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
