Kevin Dan Haley

Memorial Service at Open Door Church of God on Thursday, November 29, 2018 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Roger Noland Officiating. Viewing will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters.

Kevin Dan Haley was born to Ivo Dan and Mary Alice (Cox) Haley on June 6, 1964 at Colorado Springs, CO and departed this life in Walters, OK on November 23, 2018 at the age of 54 years, 5 months and 17 days.

Kevin grew up in Colorado Springs. As a young man he moved to Nemo, SD where he worked as a brick mason and welder for Job Corps. While there he met a Job Corps carpenter named Laura Belle Averett and together they returned to Colorado Springs in 1983. They married a few years later on June 13, 1989 at Manitou Springs, CO. The couple eventually moved to Montgomery, AL where he continued laying brick until returning to Colorado Springs, doing body work and attended tech school for drafting. They moved to Dallas around 1987 and did drafting for Signal Metal. The next move was to Iowa Park, TX working at Kuhn Industries for 6 months and then spent 5 years with Howmet as a drafter. He was then employed for a time with Cryovac until his back problems persisted.

The family has called Walters their home for the past 18 years where they attended Open Door Church of God. Kevin loved his church and reading his Bible. He also enjoyed reading in general, vegetable gardening, cooking and finding new recipes to try. He was full of energy and had a love for life and for people. He always put others before himself.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Lonnie Haley.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of the home; his daughter, Katarina Haley of Comanche, OK; 3 siblings and spouses, Carla Haley of Colorado Springs, Norman Haley and Diane of Krum, TX, Teresa Covert and Hal of Comanche; a close uncle, Temple “Butch” Haley of Comanche; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
