Kimberlea (Potts) Patterson, "Bushey" or “Me-Me,” was born to Fred Lynn and Elva Jean (Permansu) Potts on January 16, 1962 in Fort Worth, TX and departed this life in Lawton, OK on June 21, 2019 at the age of 57 years, 5 months and 5 days.
Kim and family lived in Fort Worth until she was 5 making their home in Walters. Must have been something about the little city because she was still calling it home. She worked as a rural mail carrier for 21 years, along with working at the school and providing in home elder care before spending 12 years with Cotton County Rural Water as the secretary. Kim married Chuck Ballard October 10, 1980 at New Salem Baptist Church northwest of Walters and to the union 2 children, Jennifer and Austin were born. She later married her soulmate Billy Patterson on February 22, 2002 in Wichita Falls.
Kim was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Walters and loved praising God for all the blessings in life, good and bad. She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, watching wrestling and spending time with her grandkids. As a teenager she served as the Comanche Nation Princess. Kim was active for many years with the Junior Chamber of Commerce. She had served as president of the Walters Jaycees and as a governor of the Oklahoma Jaycees, and was proud to have been able to attend 2 national conferences. She had been trained in individual, business and leadership development and received numerous awards and honors for her service to the organization.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Elva Potts; and an infant brother, Larry Britt Potts.
Survivors include her husband, Billy, of the home; her 2 kids, Jennifer Ballard Herr and husband Ernie of Walters, and Kenneth Austin Ballard and fiancé Shelby Reed of Walters; her brother, Kenneth Lynn Potts of Walters; her grandchildren, Haleigh Paige Hull, Shooter Jaxon Herr and Cooper Rebel Reed; many other relatives and friends.
