Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 2:00 p.m., Charles Turney officiating with burial in the Temple Cemetery, Temple, OK. Kurtis Gene Burton was born October 20, 1959 in Lawton, OK to Milton Eugene Burton, Jr. and Bettie LaRue (Collins) Burton and departed this life in Healdton, OK on January 27, 2022 at the age of 62 years, 3 months and 7 days.
Kurt attended grade school in Temple, OK, junior high in Greenville, TX and Whitesboro, TX, and then finished 9th-12th in Healdton, graduating from HHS in 1978. Kurt married Dwana Segroves and to the union 2 children, Bradley and Jennifer, were born. He later married Janet Jenkins who preceded him in death.
Through the years he worked for several oil business including, Segroves, Chapman and Bullard. In 1998 he went to work for Kingery Drilling as a roustabout and pumper, retiring in 2021 due to ill health.
Kurt enjoyed hunting, fishing, dominos, and playing Shanghai Rummy with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janet Burton; his father, Gene Burton Jr.; his maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Harold Clark; his paternal grandparents, Gene and Clytee Burton; and his aunt, Sylvia Booher.
Survivors include his mother, LaRue Burton of Lebanon, OK; his son and daughter, Bradley Burton and Jennifer Nessmith both of Wilson, OK; his bonus daughter and grandkids, Sabrina Burns and husband Daniel of Oil City, OK and their kids, Dillon and Macy; 2 sisters, Kris Burton of Fort Worth, TX and Kindal Rector and husband Joe of Springtown, TX; a nephew, Collin Rector and wife Rachel; a niece, Ashland Rector; his special friend, Diana Merrit of Healdton; his cousins, other relatives and many friends.
