Leora "Toots" Spurlock

Leora May “Toots” Spurlock was born to Milton and Juanita Ruby (Bloxsom) Robbs on May 26, 1932 at Branson, CO and departed this life in Temple, OK on February 12, 2019 at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 17 days.

Toots learned to walk on the prairie as the family moved by covered wagon from Colorado to the Plainview, TX area making their home in the Running Water Draw Community. She married Raymond Lee Spurlock on November 4, 1950 at Plainview. Living in Texas they moved around with the oilfield and did custom harvesting, eventually moving from Cactus, TX to Temple, OK in 1968. The couple had 4 kids between them, Gary, Barry, Robbie, and Kala Spurlock and she also played a big role in the raising of 3 of her brothers, which included 9-year-old, R.L. and 6-year-old twins, Larry and Jerry Robbs.

Toots worked for Hugh Lowe from 1972 to 1976 when she bought out his tax preparation business and she also ran the Temple Tag Agency. She retired in 2005 but for a few clients she continued working for from her home. She enjoyed doing yard work and cooking which the harvest hands loved to partake in. She also loved hosting garden parties, brunches, showers, wedding receptions, cellar parties, 42 and wahoo parties. She entertained at her house every Sunday evening for years with lots of food, fellowship and gospel singing. She was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church, serving on the socials and funeral dinner committees and enjoyed the WMU meetings. She faithfully brought cookies Sunday morning for all to partake in before Sunday School.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond in 2015; son Gary Wayne Spurlock; great grandson, Blake Miller; her sister, Marie Cline; and twin brothers, Larry and Jerry Robbs.

Survivors include 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Kim Spurlock of Burkburnett, TX, Robbie and Johnette Spurlock of Pilot Point, TX; her daughter and son-in-law, Kala and Steve Miller of Seminole, OK; her daughter-in-law, Onetta Spurlock of Temple; 2 brothers and their spouses, Floyd and Rosemary Robbs and R.L. and Sally Robbs all of Wilcox, AZ; a sister, Viola Noyes of Seattle, WA; a sister-in-law, Pat Robbs of Geronimo, OK; 10 grandchildren, Paula, Brad, Tabitha, Amber, Mary Elyse, Ryan, Kyle, Steven Paul, Brett and Tyler; 10 great grandchildren, Brodie, Zayn, Dylan, Courtney, Alex, Ethan, Ashlyn, Sadie, Skylynn and Rhett with 2 more on the way; as well as a great-great grandson, Graham; a special friend, Carla Lacefield of North Carolina; and a host of other friends and relatives.
