Graveside Services at the Walters Cemetery on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. under the direction of Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters, OK. Viewing on Monday from 9:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Linda Gayle (Hayes) Chockpoyah was born to Grady Banks and Mary Charline (Alexander) Hayes on June 18, 1945 in Eclectic, AL and departed this life in Lawton, OK on January 7, 2022 at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 20 days.
Linda grew up in Alexander City, AL and Post, TX. She married, making their home in Bowie, TX and to the union a daughter and 2 sons were born. Linda moved to Duncan, OK in 1980, working as a CNA for Duncan Regional Hospital where she met Fred Chockpoyah. They married on January 6, 1984 in Wichita Falls, TX. Around 1990, Linda went to work for Walmart in accounts receivable and the couple soon moved to the family home in rural Walters. She continued with Walmart until 2001.
Linda enjoyed her dogs and other animals, gardening, dancing, doing needlepoint and sewing. She also enjoyed playing on the computer, shopping and researching online.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Grandy Hayes and Mary Hayes Harris; and a stepdaughter, Stephanie Dawn Hulen.
Survivors include her husband, Fred, of the home; a daughter, Debra Denise Oliver of Texas; 2 sons, Steven Lynn Oliver of Cut Bank, MT, and Toby Scott Oliver of Bowie, TX; a stepdaughter, Fredda Diane Brady of Duncan, OK; a stepson, Wesley Dale Chockpoyah of Velma, OK; 5 brothers and sisters, Barbara Sue Johnston of Granbury, TX, Gary Lynn Hayes of Burleson, TX, Ronnie Ray Hayes of Forestburg, TX, Kathy Moss of Duncan, OK and Michael Hayes of Duncan; 12 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, her Chockpoyah Family, other relatives and friends.
