Mikel Dewayne Spence was born to Merel Grover and Mary Lee (Love) Spence on March 26, 1950 in Duncan, OK and departed this life in Walters, OK on December 5, 2020 at the age of 70 years, 8 months and 9 days.
Mikel grew up in Walters but for a time in Arizona, and graduated from Walters High School in 1968. He married Anna Mae Penrod on June 6, 1970 in Wichita Falls, TX and they made their home in Walters and the surrounding area, raising 3 boys. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam Era.
Mikel worked 20 years for Cotton Electric. He was also a good mechanic and enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. He and his brother enjoyed going to swap meets and flea markets. He also enjoyed cooking and baking cakes. A cake was always his gift to his family on their birthday.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna, in 2016; his parents; and a sister, Marsha Carson.
Survivors include 3 sons and spouses, Bryan and Jennifer Spence of Walters, Darrell Spence of Walters, Mikel and Melanie Spence of Comanche, OK; his twin brother, Johnny Spence of Walters; his sister, Sharon Willingham of Seminole, OK; 10 grandchildren, Brett, Jenna, Brooklyn, Derrick, Kyler, Emma, Gabrielle, Ashton, Aiden and Novelyn; 5 great grandchildren, Myia, Gracelynn, Ramona, Aria and Abigail; other relatives and friends.
