Funeral Services at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home Chapel, Walters, OK, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2021, James Sterling officiating. Visitation at Hart-Wyatt on Wednesday evening from 5-7:00 p.m. with come and go viewing beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday.

Monte Loyd Jackson was born to Loyd Raymond and Callie Lorene (Brooks) Jackson on December 8, 1949 in Wichita Falls and departed this life in Walters, OK on November 29, 2021 at the age of 71 years, 11 months and 21 days.

Monte grew up at Wichita Falls, graduating from Hirschi High School in 1968. He married, making his home in Wichita Falls but for a time in Austin, TX. To the union 2 daughters were born. Monte got into the jewelry business as a young adult and stay with it throughout his life. He worked at Kruger’s, Zales and Corrigan’s, eventually taking his job on the road. He met Barbara Ann (Vantine) Parr in 1990 and moved to Lawton and in 1991 they moved to Walters. He soon took a job with Tipton’s in Lawton and later had his own repair shop. He retired in 2020 but has continued working part-time, doing repairs for Honest Harry’s Pawn Shop.

Monte served his country honorably for 6 years in the National Guard. He never met a stranger and would start up a conversation with anyone. He enjoyed golf, watching variety shows on TV, had a green thumb and loved his dogs. He and Barbara enjoyed traveling together and he was always ready for a cruise.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Larue Lee.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara, of the home; 2 daughters, Melanie Holmquist and Mikel of Bentonville, AR, and Mindy Opie and Jonathan of Rowlett, TX; a stepson, Andrew Parr and Nelson Smith of Stillwater, OK; 4 grandchildren, Makenna and Miles Holmquist, Payton and Tucker Opie; a nephew, Monte Lee and Torree of Green Cove Springs, FL and their 4 children; other relatives and a host of friends.
