Pauline McIlhaney, Wichita Falls, TX
At the age of 99 years, our beloved Mother, Pauline McIlhaney, slipped into the arms of Jesus, Sunday, February 28, 2021. Services will be at First Baptist Church, Temple, Okla. on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 2:00 PM with interment in the Temple Cemetery.
Pauline was born November 23, 1921 in Wapanucka, Okla. to Sarah Ann Coley Dudley and William Robert Dudley. She and Joe King McIlhaney were married March 18, 1939. To this union six children were born, Carol Sue, Mary Jo, Kenneth King, Betty Lou, Linda Kay and Stephen Ray.
Pauline accompanied Joe to San Diego, CA to work in air craft factory during WWII while Joe served in the US Navy. After the war they returned to Temple, Oklahoma, and in 1948, Joe was killed in an oilfield accident. Pauline with six children worked for the Bell Telephone Co. until they went dial, then for Haggar Slack Factory until they closed. She worked for several years at the Baptist Children’s Home in Oklahoma City, OK and ended her career as a clerk for Temple Nutrition Center.
Pauline actively worshipped at First Baptist Church in Temple, OK. She served the Lord for many years with the FBC Hospitality Committee. God and Church was a priority for her family! She actively supported all her children’s church and school activities.
Pauline made a final move to Texas in 2012, residing at The Vantage Point, 2100 Santa Fe, Wichita Falls, TX until recently moving to Texhoma Christian Care facility.
Pauline was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, parents Sarah and William, sisters Ruby Dudley and Beatrice Dudley Womack, daughter-in-law, Vicki McIlhaney, sons-in-law, Karl Sorge and Andy Powers, great grandson John Paul Freer.
She is survived by her kids Carol Henderson (Tommy), Mary Sorge, Ken McIlhaney (Jan), Betty Powers, Linda Taylor (Ernest), and Steve McIlhaney (Dana). She was Grandma to the following - Craig Henderson (Ana), Scott Sorge (Leesa), Paula Freer (Victor), Tracy Patrick (Allen) Brent Taylor (Carol), Keith McIlhaney (Theresa), Kent Sorge (Judy), Tory Powers, (Tammy), Luci McIlhaney, Kerry McIlhaney (Amy), Sherry Bernstein (David), Trent McIlhaney (Kiley) and Rob McIlhaney (Wendy). She is survived by niece, Billie Ann McIlhaney Penn and many other extended family and dear friends. She is blessed with 29 great grandchildren and 21 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials, if you should desire, may be made to First Baptist Church, Temple, Ok or your favorite charity.
