Pearlene Phelps, 92, Duncan, OK
Graveside services at the Walters Cemetery, Walters, OK, Friday, August 2, 2024 at 2:00 p.m., Rev. Charles McConnell officiating. Visitation at Hart-Wyatt Funeral Home in Walters on Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 pm.
Pearlene (Fielding) Phelps was born to Earl William “Pete” and Lennie Ellen (Cagle) Fielding on January 14, 1932 in Chattanooga, OK and departed this life in Comanche, OK on July 24, 2024 at the age of 92 years, 6 months and 10 days.
Pearlene grew up one of 8 children in Stephens County, OK. She married Ralph Wilburn Blalock and to the union a daughter, Carol, was born. They made their home in Loco. She later married Dennie Woods and to this union a son, Michael, was born and they continued living in Loco.
Through the years Pearlene worked in laundry at Meridian Nursing Home, then became a Nurse Aide, working in Healdton at the hospital and nursing home. She also worked at the Ardmore Hospital and VA Center, McMahan-Tomlinson Nursing Home and Memorial Hospital in Lawton, and then spent 8 years at Duncan Regional. Retiring from the medical field, she worked for a time at the Nutrition Center in Temple, OK.
Pearlene was married to Oras Allmon, living in Walters and later married Ollie Phelps, living in Lawton for a time before they moved to the Waurika Lake in the 1980’s. Ollie preceded her in death in 1991. She was also preceded in death by her son, Michael Lynn Woods; her parents, Pete and Lennie Fielding; 3 brothers, Earl Fielding, Virgil Fielding and Frank Fielding; and 4 sisters, Stella Blalock, Judy Stapp, Janell Hartman and Rosemary Davis.
Pearlene was a member of Hastings Baptist Church. She enjoyed playing the guitar, gardening, bird watching and her cats. She also enjoyed cleaning, cooking and eating fish. She was artistic and enjoyed painting and drawing. She moved to Duncan from the lake in December of 2018.
Survivors include her daughter, Carol Jean Lamb of Duncan, OK; 4 grandchildren, Cindy Adams of Duncan, Jason Williams of Denton, TX, Erica Jackson of Duncan and Logan Jackson of Duncan; 9 great grandchildren, Kevin, Angel, Brandon, Blake, Michael, Justin, Alejandra, Jaren and Jada; 8 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
